Gen Z shopping trends reveal e-commerce preferences surge

Yesterday

Sciative Solutions has unveiled new insights concerning Gen Z's shopping preferences, emphasising the proclivity of this demographic for e-commerce and the importance they place on customer reviews and product quality.

The study indicates that 66% of Gen Z consumers aged 18-25 prefer online shopping over in-store shopping, prompting a push for brands to enhance their digital presence. This trend is vital for businesses aiming to attract this increasingly influential consumer segment.

The research highlights the significance of pricing in initial purchase decisions, with 68% of respondents identifying it as a crucial factor. However, 86% of Gen Z shoppers would still follow through with a purchase even if the price increases by 10%, indicating that product quality also holds great importance.

Customer feedback plays a substantial role, as evidenced by 83% of participants relying on reviews for making purchasing decisions. This dependence underscores the significance of building and maintaining strong brand-customer relationships. By fostering effective customer interaction, brands can encourage satisfied customers to advocate on their behalf.

Though Gen Z consumers appreciate seasonal sales, there's a preference for consistency over frequent promotions, suggesting they are inclined towards trustworthy brands that provide stable prices and reliable products.

The study also reveals that 85% of Gen Z shoppers would switch between marketplaces to secure a desired product, highlighting the need for businesses to maintain competitive pricing while ensuring high-quality goods. Moreover, 91.73% of respondents prioritise superior customer service, accepting higher prices from platforms that offer exceptional services.

Ms. Vijeta Soni, Co-Founder & CEO of Sciative Solutions, explained the impact of Gen Z on transforming retail market dynamics, particularly in pricing and consumer engagement. She stated, "Their purchasing decisions value fairness together with transparency along with experience rather than aggressive discounting. Gen Z customers want more than standard transactional experiences because they expect companies to establish meaningful business connections."

Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Anshu Jalora, Founder and Managing Director of Sciative Solutions, commented, "The study shows price point must exceed just being the minimum possible price." He indicated that businesses should adopt AI-based dynamic pricing strategies to appeal to consumers while maintaining brand loyalty, stressing the importance of understanding Gen Z's specific needs for sustainable growth.
