Toast opens new Bengaluru tech hub to drive growth

Mon, 2nd Feb 2026

Toast has opened a new office in Bengaluru as it expands its engineering and product development base in India.

The company inaugurated a 64,000-square-foot global technology centre at RMZ Ecoworld on the Outer Ring Road. Toast said the site strengthens its product development and engineering work as part of its global operations.

Toast develops digital tools for the hospitality sector. The company sells cloud-based software and financial technology products for restaurants, including point of sale, payments, operations, digital ordering, marketing and loyalty, and team management.

Toast established a local presence in India in 2022. It said it has recorded fourfold headcount growth across its Bengaluru and Chennai offices since then.

The new site replaces Toast's former Bengaluru location and offers almost three times the seating capacity, according to the company. Toast said the office design supports a hybrid work model.

Steve Fredette, President and Co-founder, and Kavita Viswanath, Senior Vice President and India Site Lead, led the inauguration of the new facility.

Hiring focus

Toast said it plans to grow teams across engineering, product development, fintech, AI and machine learning, customer care, finance, and people operations. It described the Bengaluru operation as a global technology centre and "center of excellence".

The company has built out dedicated product, engineering and R&D teams in Bengaluru. Toast said the new site links to its worldwide customer base and partner network.

"India plays a critical role for Toast in how we build and scale our products globally, and Bengaluru's strong concentration of tech talent and vibrant food and beverage technology ecosystem make it an ideal location for us to expand our regional presence," said Steve Fredette, President and Co-Founder, Toast.

This marks another example of a US-listed software company growing its footprint in India, where Bengaluru remains a major hub for software engineering, product development and services work. Companies have continued to add office capacity as they recruit across software development, data and customer operations roles.

"This new office will give our teams the space and environment to do meaningful, customer-impacting work, while strengthening India's position as one of our major global technology centers and center of excellence," said Fredette.

Office design

Toast said the new site includes a Customer Experience Centre. The company described it as a restaurant-style space where Toast products run end to end and staff can see how they work in restaurant operations.

The office also includes collaboration areas, training rooms, gaming zones and a wellness area, according to Toast. The company said the building is LEED-certified and includes sustainability and energy efficiency features.

Toast also linked the new site to internal employee programmes. It said the Bengaluru centre will host global learning and development programmes, leadership training and professional development resources.

Toast said its social impact arm, Toast.org, will have an active presence at the site. It also said employee resource groups will operate from the Bengaluru centre.

"Toast's teams in India are contributing directly to core product and technology initiatives. The new center in Bengaluru gives us the scale, flexibility, and environment needed to support long-term growth while fostering a strong culture of collaboration," said Kavita Viswanath, Senior Vice President and India Site Lead, Toast.

Product work

Toast said the new centre will contribute to product and technology delivery across its global business. The company said it expects work from the Bengaluru centre to "accelerate innovation, improve scalability, and support faster development cycles" across its product portfolio.

Toast listed its core product areas as point of sale, payments, operations, digital ordering and delivery, marketing and loyalty, and team management. It said it connects front-of-house and back-of-house workflows across dine-in, takeaway, delivery, catering and retail service models.
