Lenovo fuses AI tech with Indian art in Yoga Aura Edition drive
Lenovo has launched a nationwide initiative to connect younger generations with India's cultural heritage by combining traditional artistry with new digital technology. The 'Made With Lenovo Yoga (Aura Edition)' campaign brings together artisans and digital creators to reinterpret craft forms from Odisha, Rajasthan, and Kashmir using the company's AI-enabled laptops.
Digital reinterpretation
Three cinematic short films serve as the centrepiece of the campaign. These films explore how ancient art forms-Odisha's Pattachitra scrolls, Rajasthan's Kaavad storytelling panels, and Kashmiri carpet motifs-can be transformed using advanced 3D design and motion animation techniques. The initiative targets Gen Z, aiming to make traditional forms accessible and engaging through digital platforms.
Craft meets technology
In Odisha, the partnership between motion designer Jishnu Chatterjee and fourth-generation Pattachitra master Sachikanta Sahoo is featured. Set in the village of Raghurajpur, the film documents how detailed, mythological scroll paintings are digitised and brought to life via AI-assisted modelling and cinematic animation. Aspects such as intricate lines and authentic emotional narrative were retained throughout the process.
For Rajasthan, the initiative highlights the Kaavad tradition. 3D/AI artist TooSid collaborates with performer Akshay Gandhi. The film demonstrates how the visual storytelling technique, traditionally enacted through hand-painted wooden panels, can evolve into digital story sequences. Utilising the Yoga 9i Aura Edition device, new animated narratives are developed while maintaining the core of the original craftsmanship.
Kashmir's storied carpet-weaving heritage forms the subject of the third film. AI artist Varun Gupta worked with Ali Shah Crafts to reinterpret motifs such as chinars, vines, and paisleys, as well as elements inspired by folk tales. The process uses AI-powered modelling and motion graphics to transform static designs into dynamic visual experiences, while upholding the precision and texture of Kashmiri culture.
Technology integration
The creators relied exclusively on Lenovo Yoga Aura Edition AI PCs. The devices feature an AI-ready architecture and integrated NPU (Neural Processing Unit), along with capabilities designed for complex 3D workflows, on-ground sketching, and cinematic rendering. According to Lenovo, features such as a long battery life and a high-fidelity PureSight Pro OLED display supported creators working alongside artisans on location. The laptops were chosen to enable the creation of immersive visual stories while preserving traditional details and textures in the digital format.
A preservation approach
"India's artistic heritage carries centuries of skill and storytelling, and we see AI as a powerful tool to help it thrive in the future. With the 'Made With Lenovo Yoga (Aura Edition)' campaign, our goal is to show how technology can be used for good, not to replace tradition, but to preserve it, share it. By giving creators AI-powered capabilities that respect the authenticity of handcrafted art, the Lenovo Yoga Aura Edition enables them to push creative boundaries and reimagine cultural narratives in formats that resonate with today's young audiences," said Chandrika Jain, Marketing Director, Lenovo India.
