Pocket FM expands AI audio series to empower Indian writers
Pocket FM has launched its AI-powered audio series capabilities for Indian writers following its initial rollout in the US and other global markets.
The platform enables writers to transform text stories into audio shows within minutes using its AI Creator Suite, which features AI-generated voices developed in partnership with ElevenLabs. The technology is designed to convey a range of dramatic, romantic, comedic, and fantasy tones, aiming to address traditional barriers around speed and quality in audio production.
According to Pocket FM, during its pilot phase in India, writers on the platform published more than 30,000 audio series. This number is projected to double before the end of the year, as adoption increases and more writers use the available tools.
AI tools for writers
The AI Creator Suite is intended to streamline the production process. Stories that previously required several weeks to produce can now be generated up to ten times faster. Pocket FM suggests this acceleration will help increase the volume of stories available, promote diversity among writers, and facilitate the development of new narrative formats.
For decades, writers have struggled to find the right platform, resources, or recognition for their stories. Countless powerful narratives went unheard, limited by the absence of opportunities to scale. With AI-powered audio series, that barrier no longer exists. Writers can now bring their stories to life instantly, share them across geographies, and connect with audiences worldwide. When human imagination combines with AI innovation, the possibilities multiply, with stories becoming richer, more immersive, and truly global. What we are witnessing is not just a content shift but the rise of a new writer economy. And our bet is clear - the future of storytelling belongs to creators, and AI is their ultimate enabler, "said Prateek Dixit, Co-founder, Pocket Entertainment. "
Growth of user-generated content
The company is expanding opportunities not just for professional writers but for everyday users who aspire to author their own stories. Pocket FM reports that over 33,000 Indian users each month have started creating AI-driven audio series through the platform. This increase in creator participation is also contributing to new economic prospects for writers on the service.
As audience reach grows, Pocket FM notes that top creators are projected to see earnings in excess of ₹10 lakh by the end of the year. Several audio series, including 'King of Dragon', 'Darshi: A Rebirth Story', and 'Divya Yoddha Daksh', have attracted significant streams, illustrating the commercial viability of this approach.
"Before Pocket FM, writing was just a passion I squeezed in after work, with no real hope that it could change my life. I didn't have the money to hire editors, or the network to pitch to publishers. Now, I suddenly had a production team in my pocket, and my words could become an audio series in hours. When I saw millions of listeners engaging with my story on Pocket FM, and then realised I could actually earn from it, it felt like I had achieved a breakthrough as a professional writer," said Nitesh Kumar Dayama, writer of 'King of Dragon'. The show has surpassed 200,000 plays in less than a month.
Supporting and recognising creators
Pocket FM is preparing to expand the availability of its AI Creator Suite to include additional Indian languages, with an aim to facilitate the production of 200,000 new AI audio series over the next year. The platform periodically hosts contests, offering prize pools of up to ₹15 lakh to encourage participation and reward aspiring writers.
Content published on the platform undergoes audience testing to determine its performance. Each month, top-performing writers are identified and can be offered contracts, editorial training, and ongoing incubation opportunities. Contracted writers receive a share of revenue generated from their series and may also be eligible for monthly incentive payments.
This approach, according to Pocket FM, reflects a commitment to supporting writers and helping them establish sustainable creative careers through audio storytelling.
