Hyland unveils new features enhancing Alfresco & AP tools

Thu, 5th Sep 2024

Hyland has announced new features and enhancements to its toolset, which include significant updates for Alfresco and key accounts payable tools.

These upgrades aim to improve cross-functional usability, automate processes, boost productivity, and provide enhanced security features, thereby streamlining day-to-day operations.

The enhanced automation and security features in Alfresco aim to reduce costs and improve productivity. The updates include support for Hyland Identity and Access Management (IAM) services and advanced encryption capabilities. The updates also simplify content-centric process management with low-code automation, allowing rapid development and deployment of dynamic apps in the cloud.

Hyland's Chief Product Officer, Leonard Kim, commented on the new developments: "We continue to deliver powerful new innovations to our customers. We're helping them engage more deeply with their content and enabling them to grow their businesses more efficiently using automation and content intelligence tools. Our goal is to make it easier for them to offer exceptional employee and customer experiences."

The updates to Alfresco include enhancements that aim to improve its cross-functional usability across essential business systems, including CRM, ERP, and collaboration tools. Additionally, the platform now has the capability to automate processes intelligently, reducing costs and improving organisational productivity.

Security and governance capabilities have also been extended. Alfresco now supports Hyland IAM services and includes full OIDC/OAUTH2 compliance. The process of applying and automating legal holds for large groups of documents has been simplified, now supported by Hyland RPA automation. Enhanced security measures have been added to protect sensitive information, including encryption of metadata values and stored passwords.

The Web UI Framework enhancements aim to assist non-technical users in creating and customising applications. Users external to OnBase will now benefit from improved interactions with system data and enhanced OnBase functionalities.

Further updates have been made to Hyland's AP Automation for Oracle JD Edwards, which now includes features to process invoices from contract purchase orders (CPOs). The enhancements enable contract purchase orders to hold back payment from each invoice until the work has been confirmed as completed. This feature ensures correct and timely payments based on contract agreements as line items and retainage are validated against JD Edwards.

A significant update has also been made to Brainware for Invoices, transforming it into a standalone processing engine. Brainware now captures, validates, and passes invoice data directly to OnBase or Perceptive Content.

This system aims to reduce administrative tasks and enhance integration, providing notable improvements such as increased accuracy in invoice data capture, compatibility with additional systems like SAP and Workday, and better support for service-type line items. The system's accuracy improves over time as it learns, resulting in better data capture results and less need for reprocessing when ERP credentials change.

Hyland's continuous enhancements aim to offer more robust solutions that help businesses in automating and managing their content more efficiently, aiming for better productivity and security across their operations.
